Speechify App: The Research Game Changer I Didn’t Know I Needed

Where was this app when I was in grad school!!??  Research used to be a grind. I’d spend hours staring at dense academic papers, manually combing through information, and feeling like I was constantly racing against time. The other day, my wife, who always seems to know exactly what I need before I do, recommended Speechify. And honestly? It’s been a total game changer.

Before Speechify, research meant being glued to a screen, trying to digest every word the old-fashioned way. Now, I let Speechify read to me while I go about my day. I can listen while I’m driving, working out, or painting. It turns what used to be a static, exhausting process into something seamless and efficient.

Because I'm an auditory learner, oddly enough, listening to content has helped me retain information better than reading ever did. Something about hearing words aloud—especially with Speechify’s natural voices—makes concepts stick. And it’s a lot easier on 74-year-old eyes after a long day.

While Speechify has made my research process smoother, I’ve also realized how valuable it is for people with dyslexia, ADHD, and other challenges that make traditional reading difficult. It’s not just a convenience—it’s an accessibility tool making information more inclusive for everyone.

Speechify is a text-to-speech app that you can easily download from the Apple App Store. Whether you're looking to "audify books", streamline research, absorb information on the go, or improve accessibility, it's a tool worth checking out.

Speechify wasn’t on my radar until my wife pointed it out, but now I can’t imagine researching without it. It’s changed the way I learn, work, and absorb information, without adding extra stress to my day!  If you do a lot of reading and haven’t tried it yet, do yourself a favor. You won’t look back.

And of course, shoutout to my wife—she was right, as usual.
