Checking Out with a Checklist: My Final Exit Plan
I’ve always been a planner—color-coded calendars, reminders for reminders, and lists so long they could wrap around the moon twice. I thrive on order, kinda. So naturally, when it’s my turn to shuffle off this "mortal coil", I want to go out in the most fitting way possible: reviewing my to-do list.Just imagine it—one last glance at my beautifully curated tasks, the satisfaction of knowing I crossed off “finish your dissertation,” but, alas, never did get around to learning Spanish. Maybe a gentle chuckle as I spot my recurring task: “Join the gym,” forever unchecked.
There’s something poetic about exiting with a plan still in progress, a reminder that life itself is a never-ending to-do list—always something left undone, always a reason to strive, to dream, to add one more thing before the final curtain call.
So when the time comes, I’ll be reviewing my tasks, nodding in approval at the completed ones, smirking at the ambitious ones, and thinking, “Well, that’s life. Guess I’ll have to delegate the rest.”
Have a great weekend! May your to-do list never be finished; that just means there’s always something worth waking up for.
Hugs! wcd
